The Arts At Marks Garage First Friday - Contemporary Photography in Hawaii 2015 (4/3/2015 - 6-10pm)
The Seventh Annual Survey Exhibition Sponsored by Pacific New Media, University of Hawaii at Manoa - Opening Reception for Contemporary Photography In Hawaii 2015 from 5-10pm. The exhibit will be on display April 3-25, 2015. This exhibit is the Seventh Annual Survey Exhibition sponsored by Pacific New Media, University of Hawaii at Manoa. Fifty pieces have been selected for this exhibit. An awards ceremony will take place at 6pm with a special Pacific New Media Juror's award with prizes including gift certificates from Hawaii Camera, Art and Design Framing, Halekulani and Kaimuki Camera. Music by DJ Mr. Nick and Kitchen Music Society featuring "The World's Smallest Beer Garden," on our little patch of grass in front of AMM with Kazu Kauinana's sculpture, "Pono". Louis Pohl Gallery - Featuring Spencer Chang Paints Landscapes (4/3/2015 - 5pm - 9pm)
Spencer Chang is a retired architect. He attended the University of Hawaii, University of Kansas and Oklahoma City University, earning a BA in Architecture and a master's in business administration. As a pilot in the Air Force, he flew missions in Vietnam and was a flight instructor. An avid outdoorsman, he golfs, kayaks and bikes, plus plays the ukulele. He has always been interested in drawing and painting and manages to fulfill his passion for art by painting with friends a couple of times a week. More...

Dominion delves into the relationship between humans and animals, the food industry, and the loss of species as aprecursor to human extinction through dance, spoken word, and multi-media imagery. Vibrant contemporary dance pieces detail our playful relationships with domesticated animals and the need for stewardship of wild animals, while fresh produce literally tossed on stage examines our growing interest in sustainable agriculture. IONA Artistic Director Cheryl Flaharty has created a visual and visceral masterpiece featuring the largest cast ever -- with 25 dancers -- including passionate solo performances by IONA veterans Malia Yamamoto, Summer Partlon, and Sami Akuna.
