Pegge Hopper's "Banana Leaf 1979" is one of the first paintings in her Banana Leaf series that features her iconic style: flat planes of color, abstracted representational shapes, and a depiction of a lounging Hawaiian woman that ran counter to the common stereotypical "hula dancer" imagery.
