First Friday: Dayton Watanabe

Friday, October 3, 2014 6 -- 9 p.m., Hawai‘i State Art Museum, Free

Relaxing sounds of the acoustic guitar will fill the HiSAM Sculpture lobby once again for First Friday on October 3, 2014. Dayton Watanabe will be demonstrating his mastery of his instrument playing both Hawaiian slack key classics and contemporary favorites. Unwind after a long work week by letting Watanabe's music be a feast for your ears and the state's Art in Public Places collection a ban- quet for your eyes.

The Hawai‘i State Art Museum would like to send out our deepest appreciation and gratitude to the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific -- Hawaii for a memorable First Friday on September 5, 2014. The Papana group was simply amazing with jazz solos and beautiful vocals. If you missed them, try to catch them at one of their many public appearances. You will not be disappointed!

And don't forget to mark your calendar for First Friday in November and an engaging evening with Teaching Artist James McCarthy.
