DAC STORYTELLING NIGHT WITH JEFF GERE

Our host, master storyteller Jeff Gere, tells "The Porter's Tale," a wild, original story from The Arabian Nights. Drawing on decades performing these tales, from a packed 2003 debut to years of shows across Hawaiʻi and beyond, Gere brings this heretical, all-too-human "pulp fiction" of Islam's golden age to life with his usual drama and aplomb.

In this special one-day crafting workshop, led by Master Artisan Umi Kai, you'll assemble your own Niho Oki, a traditional Hawaiian shark-tooth utility knife, using a precut wooden handle, tiger shark tooth blade, and cordage, then shape and finish it with provided tools and coconut oil.

This six-Sunday intermediate watercolor class led by Dwayne Adams (October 11–November 15) covers composition, values, and dynamic painting across landscapes, water scenes, urban settings, and figures. One session will use YUPO (materials provided), and another (October 25) will be a plein air outdoor session using minimal supplies.
