Hawaiʻi Watercolor Society Presents its 2026 Members’ Show - March 3 through 28, 2026

“99% Transparent,” March 3–28, 2026 at Downtown Art Center

Honolulu (February 2026)—
Downtown Art Center (DAC), at 1041 Nuʻuanu Ave., is pleased to host the Hawaiʻi Watercolor Society (HWS) 2026 Members’ Show, “99% Transparent,” on view March 3 through 28, in DAC’s second-floor Main Gallery. Admission is free and open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This year’s juried exhibition features 77 paintings created exclusively in transparent watercolor, showcasing the exceptional skill and versatility of 43 Hawaiʻi watercolor artists. The show was juried by renowned Missouri watercolorist and arts instructor
Sterling Edwards.

Expanding on the theme of transparency and light, the exhibition also includes works by notable Hawaiʻi glass artists. Eleven artists from Glass Fusion Hawaiʻi will present approximately 35 pieces of glass art, highlighting the shared qualities of luminosity and clarity between watercolor and glass.

An Opening Reception will be held on
First Friday, March 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an awards presentation recognizing outstanding works in the exhibition. A Closing Reception will take place on Saturday, March 28, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., including artist talks and the presentation of the People’s Choice Award.

The Hawaiʻi Watercolor Society aims to nurture and stimulate interest in water media through education, exhibitions, and collaboration with other organizations, associations, and individuals. The annual members’ show reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to artistic excellence and community engagement.
