"Weʻre very pleased and honored to offer this unique opportunity to our kanaka makua and ʻōpio to be a part of this community of amazing cultural practitioners represented by our Lei Court ‘Ohana," said Kēhaulani Pu‘u, Deputy Director of DPR. "Historically, our parks have been a place where Hawaiian culture was practiced and perpetuated through programs that offered hula, craft making, ʻukulele, and lei making. Our aim at Parks is to continue to celebrate and lift up our culture, and Lei Court is one of the most significant ways we play a vital role in doing so. Nui ko mākou hauʻoli a haʻaheo i kēia hana Hawaiʻi, i kēia hana kūikawā."
