Call to Artists is Now Open for the 2024 Architects as Artists Exhibition at Downtown Art Center

Downtown Art Center at 1041 Nuʻuanu Ave, Second Floor has released a Call to Artists for the third annual Architects as Artists exhibition, to be held in January 2024. For this exhibition, we invite architects in Hawaiʻi who are also active as artists to introduce their works to a larger audience. Registration for art submissions will take place from August 30 to October 15. To register, artists should visit downtownarthi.org/architectsasartists. Now in its third year, the Architects as Artists exhibition explores the sources of architects' inspiration in their work and art, and attempts to stimulate and deepen the public's interest and understanding for architecture and architects in Hawaiʻi and Downtown Honolulu. Architects, architectural engineers and architecture students, as well as those who work in architecture firms or architecture-related fields in Hawaiʻi, are encouraged to submit their work. All mediums will be accepted, including paintings, drawings, ceramics, sculptures, glass works, metal works, videos, photographs, and mixed media works. The registration fee to submit artwork is $100 ($50 for students). The exhibition is scheduled for public viewing Friday, January 5 through Saturday, January 27 in Downtown Art Center's Second Floor Main Gallery. The exhibition will be free and open to the public. Mahalo to this exhibition's curator, Carol Khewhok, and its special advisor, Randall K. Fujiki, FAIA. For more information about the show, or for artist registration, visit downtownarthi.org/architectsasartists.
