Applications now open for Kapolei City Lights parade & block party

Opening night festivities scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 near Kapolei Hale




 
O‘AHU – To prepare for the return of Kapolei City Lights (KCL) this holiday season, the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the opening of block party vendor and parade participant applications for the opening night festivities on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

The block party near Kapolei Hale is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The parade is set to begin at 6 p.m. from Kapolei High School, before proceeding down Kapolei Parkway to Kapolei Hale.

Applications for block party vendors (food and non-food vendors) and parade participants are due by Friday, Oct. 27, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. (HST). They can be found online at the dedicated KCL website:

Physical copies of the applications are also available for those without computer/internet access on non-holiday weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at:

Spectators and members of the general public interested in enjoying these opening night events need not apply. Just show up and enjoy the holiday cheer!

The luminous decorations of Kapolei City Lights 2023 will be open to the public from the evening of Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 until Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024. Specific viewing hours (for the colorful decorations inside Kapolei Hale) and additional details about the opening night festivities will be announced via the KCL website and social media feeds.

This year’s theme of “A Westside Wonderland” will feature decorations inspired by historic, cultural, and recreational aspects of our Leeward communities, from Waipahū to Kaʻena Point, to showcase pride in the westside! All are invited to come and experience these free City events and decorations. Come take a walk in the country this holiday season and enjoy “A Westside Wonderland.”         

Since the inaugural celebration in 2001, KCL continues to spread holiday cheer to the ever-growing Leeward O‘ahu community as a complement to Honolulu City Lights. 

Centered around Honolulu Hale, Honolulu City Lights will also commence their annual celebration with a parade and block party scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023. More information and details about these Honolulu events are available on their website
