Shower improvements begin next week at Kaimana Beach

O‘AHU -- A construction project to build a new, timed beach shower in the Kaimana Beach area of Kapi‘olani Park is scheduled to begin next week.

The new shower will be located further mauka of the existing shower, in the grassed area on the eastside of the park between the Waikīkī War Memorial Natatorium and Kaimana Beach Hotel. This project also includes the demolition of the existing, double-head shower. However, recognizing the popularity of this beach and its existing shower facility, the demolition of the current shower is not scheduled until the new shower is completed.

The new shower will include three shower heads and one foot wash, all timed, with an additional drinking fountain and concrete walkway installed. The project will also include installation of additional shower infrastructure, such as: a concrete pad, pervious pavers around the shower, piping, fittings, and a sediment catch basin.

The $478,800 construction contract for this project was awarded to Site Engineering, Inc.

The project is expected to be completed in summer 2023.

We appreciate the patience of park users while this project impacts this public location.
