Application deadline approaching for 2022 Lei Court

Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022

O‘AHU – Your chance to be part of the prestigious Lei Court for this coming year is fast approaching! The application deadline for the 2022 Lei Court is Friday, Jan. 14 at 4:30 p.m.

Applications must be received by the above date, not postmarked, and can be hand delivered or mailed to:

Applications are available online at 
www.honoluluparks.com in the “Lei Day Celebration” section. You may also access that form by clicking here.

Applicants must be 46 to 60 years of age by the day of the selection event to qualify. 

The Lei Court Selection will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kapolei Hale. The public is invited to enjoy this beautifully unique display of Hawaiian pageantry as the event is free and open to the public.

During the selection, applicants will be judged on their lei-making abilities, hula performance, poise, personality, and public speaking in English and Hawaiian. The selection will determine the Lei Queen/King and their princes/princesses to represent the City and County of Honolulu in an honorary capacity during select events throughout the year. Of those events, the Lei Day Celebration is one of the most prominent.

The theme for the 2022 Lei Day Celebration is 
Lei Wao Nahele
 - forest lei. 

The 94th Annual Lei Day Celebration will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Kapi‘olani Park, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
