DOWNTOWN ART CENTER ANNOUNCES OCTOBER SHOW: “INSPIRATIONS,” A JOINT EXHIBITION WITH HAWAIʻI HANDWEAVERS’ HUI AND GLASS FUSION COLLECTIVE

Honolulu (September 2, 2021) – The Hawaiʻi Handweavers' Hui is excited to partner with the Glass Fusion Collective in the joint exhibition "Inspirations" at the Downtown Art Center at 1041 Nuʻuanu Ave. in the Second Floor Exhibition Space. Though two very different mediums, both fiber and glass art rely on color as one of the main components. The venue of the Downtown Art Center is an inspiration itself, as the space has windows along one side, allowing for natural light to interact with the pieces. This exhibition will be open for public viewing from September 29 through October 15, 2021, Wednesday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  A First Friday Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday, October 1 from 4-6 p.m.

This 2021 Biennial Juried Exhibition will be juried by Mark Mitsuda for the Glass Fusion Collective and Suzi Ballenger for the Hawaiʻi Handweavers’ Hui. Mitsuda is a graduate of Alfred University and the head of the glass department at Punahou School. Ballenger currently serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc.
