DOWNTOWN ART CENTER’S NEW JUNE EXHIBIT, MACE AND LONG: ARTISTS IN OUR COLLECTION, LAUNCHES FRIDAY, JUNE 4

Artists/art collectors Robert Mace and MaryAnne Long present MACE and LONG: Artists in our Collections, an art exhibit featuring the 38 Hawaiʻi artists whose works are in their personal collections.  Their hope is that others will find delight in their artwork and be inspired to start or expand their own collections. The show will be open for free public viewing from Friday, June 4 to Saturday, June 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at the Downtown Art Center’s Second Floor gallery.

These artists represent a wide range of media and experience; some are quite well-known and others are emerging artists.  They will be exhibiting exciting new works and maybe a few old favorites.  There will be a viewing area with a variety of short videos, including underwater photography and digital and gaming art. A daily pop-up shop with prints and small unframed originals will be available for additional must-have purchases.

Participating artists are Satoru Abe, Amber Aquirre, Jennifer Armhold, Suzanne Barnes, Reem Bassous, Sandra Blazel, Brenda Cablayan, Debra Casey, Lauren Hana Chai, Sam Campos, Marysol A. Damo, Ellen Dieter, Jodi Endicott, Yumiko Glover, Scott Goto, Jon Hamblin, Daven Hee, Trevor Kodama, Allison LaValley, Paul Levitt, Roland Longstreet, Faye Maeshiro, Artist Poor Lydia (Matias), Suzanne McCrary, Saumolia Puapuaga, Michelle Schwengel-Regala, Wendy Roberts, Cynthia M. Schubert, Esther Shimazu, Warren Stenberg, Jimmy Tablante, Wayne Takazono, Jae Tracy, Claudia Wallace, Frances Wong, Fae Yamaguchi, Barbara Sumida  (In Memoriam), and Rio Suzuki (In Memoriam).
The artists, some with extensive national and international exposure, represent many different regions of the Hawaiian Islands, and the scope of their works gives a museum-like experience to the exhibit.
