FIRST FRIDAY AT HONOLULU'S DOWNTOWN ART CENTER TO FEATURE NEW HAWAIʻI WATERCOLOR SOCIETY EXHIBIT AND OPENING ARTISTS RECEPTION
On Friday, April 2, 2021, Downtown Art Center at 1041 Nuʻuanu Ave, Suite B, is proud to welcome the return of First Friday, Chinatownʻs monthly event celebrating art, culture and food. Come to DAC between 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. for art, festivities and a chance to mingle with local artists.

Downstairs, the DAC shop, a retail gallery featuring all local artists and crafters, will reopen for the first time in months for guests to peruse. Enjoy a glass of wine and see unique paintings, textile art, photography, sculpture and more, from some of Hawaiʻi's most creative minds.

Upstairs, DAC is proud to host the opening reception for Hawaiʻi Watercolor Society's 2021 Members' Show, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. (the gallery will stay open after the reception) featuring 50 beautiful watercolor pieces from 31 artists, juried by Laurie Goldstein-Warren. See all the accepted artists and award-winners in the show, including Jimmy Tablante's painting, “Mother and Child,” which won Best In Show. In addition, the exhibition will include 16 paintings selected from the HWS open show, as well as a companion show with 24 fine wood art pieces by Honolulu Woodturners Association. The Hawaiʻi Watercolor Society show will run from Tuesday, March 30 to Saturday, April 17, 2021 in the second floor DAC gallery. For more information about this show, or to see pieces online, visit hawaiiwatercolorsociety.org.
