Welina mai nei!
Greetings community creatives near and far, 'tis the season and there are so many reasons for gratitude for the continued presence of The ARTS at Marks Garage.
YES, we are here, in mind, body and spirit. We are thrilled to welcome one of our founders, Rich Richardson back in a curatorial role for the stunning Glass Show from the Hawaii Craftsmen community, we also welcome Mathew Kelty, a new interim manager, play producer and writer to our space (more on Mathew next month)! endless gratitude for the continued support of our dedicated staff and volunteers including Ryan, Carlynn, Sarah, Donna, Michele, James, our stalwart partners, our volunteer board members Kim, Jason, Dan, and myself chaired by the always gracious and profoundly inspiring Melissa White!
Community arts thrive when we all do our part! As The ARTS at Marks prepares for 2020 we are looking forward, backward, sideways and underneath in order to keep creating collaborative space for ARTS to have a presence in our urban landscape.
How can you help? Glad you asked. We have a special group, 1001 Friends Of the Arts at Marks Garage that could use your year round support. Head to our website, imagine yourself having a few less coffees or taking a brown bag to work, and consider donating $10 a month the our ARTS efforts. You can’t believe what friends can do, when they do it together! The ARTS thrive
because we value them, in every possible way. We can show our gratitude for the artists, writers, muralists, performers, playwrights, dancers, painters, ceramists, dancers, designers, photographers, poets, musicians, singers by continuing to have a place in Honolulu for us all to gather.
We are grateful for any support you can offer, you are already a friend for reading this newsletter. In this season of light, remember you always have a creative community on your side!
Me ke aloha pumehana,
Maile Meyer

December Exhibit

Gathering Glass
Hawaii Craftsmen
December 3-28
“Gathering Glass” is named both for the molten glass that is "gathered" onto the end of a blowpipe, and for the glass community re-connecting and celebrating at The ARTS at Marks Garage. This show differs from many of the annual glass shows hosted at Marks since 2003 by offering prizes, free entry, and return shipping for selected work shipped from neighbor islands. A retail opportunity and hot glass demonstration are also expected to be included.
