YOUNG ARTISTS OF HAWAIʻI ART EXHIBIT (2019)

ABOUT THE YOUNG ARTISTS OF HAWAIʻI COMPETITION
The Young Artists of Hawaiʻi is a program established by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) to recognize and display student artwork in accordance with Section 9-4, Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes. The program provides an opportunity for students to participate in a juried art exhibition hosted at the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum. Permanent display facilities were designed and constructed for Pā Kamaliʻi Courtyard at the Hawaiʻi Convention Center and a competitive annual exhibition was developed by SFCA in cooperation with the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority. The competition is open to all public, charter, home school and private school students grades Kindergarten through sixth. The theme, “My Culture, My Family, and Me” is intended to inspire students to express how they feel, see, or interpret their lives in the islands. Once schools submit artworks, distinguished judges select works for exhibition.

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
The selected works are exhibited at the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum, and replicas of the works are exhibited in the Pā Kamaliʻi Courtyard at the Hawaiʻi Convention Center.
