• First Thursdays Poetry Slam at Hawaiian Brian's Thursday 12/1/2016

Join us this Thursday (December 1st) for a top-notch installment of First Thursdays at Hawaiian Brian's!! As always, this HawaiiSlam show will be hosted by Kealoha and will feature:

-- Ron Artis II, is a musician/singer-songwriter best known for his duo group Ron Artis II & Thunderstorm. His recordings include genres of music from funk, blues, jazz and completely to the other side of the world into singer-songwriter, flamenco and folk. He has worked with artists such as Jack Johnson, Jake Shimabukuro, Mick Fleetwood, Booker T, G Love, and many more. Ron has never been signed to any music label and has always believed in being independent to be able to create and share the most pure music possible.

-- An official qualifier for the 2016-2017 HawaiiSlam season. Normal slam rules apply, and the top two poets will advance to the 2017 Grand Slam Finals (on April 6th, 2017) that will determine HawaiiSlam's 14th National Poetry Slam team. Winner of this qualifier slam receives $100.

-- Turntable Sorcery by DJ Toki (Sisters In Sound)

-- Live painting by the resident artists (past artists include Solomon Enos, Aaron "Angry Woebots" Martin, Erin McCullough, Kimi Werner, The Storekeeper, Dhyana Zagri, Stanstill, Nabahe, Wes Ka'uhane, Neal Uno, Pancho Abalos, Mike Fresh, Manny P, Patti Bruce, Aaron Char, Mark Agnir, Jeff Lum, Samantha Goldman, Earl Washington, Clinton "Clean" Haness, Sequoia, Carol Tagawa, TJ Howe, Nikila Badua, Jeremiah Skurtu, Sarah Hodges, Hanam Mun, Risa Oram, Melissa Soriano, and Talulah)

Validated parking for Hawaiian Brian's is $2 up to 3 hours, $4 up to 4 hours, and $6 up to 5 hours. There is plenty of street parking in the area as well (note, if you street park or walk/bike/bus, enter through the 24 Hour Fitness lobby on Kapi`olani and walk up the stairs).
