Hawai'i Forgiveness Project:
Gratitude from a Good Listener

Free Monthly Meeting
Friday, December 13 at 4:00 pm.,
downtown Honlolulu

For more than half a century, Sister Joan Chatfield has served the community of Hawaii. This month, she extends that service further, by coming to the Forgiveness Project to speak of gratitude.

She is world-class a counselor, teaching, consolor, leader, writer, organizer -- soothing pain and lifting spirits each day, wherever she goes.

Her open-heart actions are backed up by an impressive resume: a Maryknoll Sister, with a doctorate from UC Berkeley, who directed the Mission Institute in New York, and was Maryknoll's representative at the United Nations.

Together with people from the East-West Center, she founded the Institute for Religion and Social Change in 1968. She has journeyed seven times to Rome, and in 2009 was designed a Living Treasure of Hawaii. In 2012, we recognized her as one of Hawaii's Heroines of Forgiveness, in a moving ceremony at the State Capitol.

When asked what she does, with typical offhand humility, she says, "I'm a pretty good listener." We will be privileged to listen to her, to ask questions...and she will, as always, listen carefully.

For the past 11 years, our meetings have been free and open to all.

Held in a beautiful conference room, courtesy of one of Hawaii's leading law firms, Cades-Schutte.
