An Invitation - Hawaii Forgiveness Project

4-6 pm at Cades, 12th floor
Carmen Hetaraka, Maori, speaking on the need for Puuhonua
The purpose of this presentation is to promote the need for Puuhonua on our islands: a place where inmates can come to heal, share, train and practice their culture, language, arts and history with kahu, kahuna, cultural practitioners and other skilled people who have worked for years, assisting our people who are in prison on minor charges (meaning they have never killed anyone).
You are all invited to a presentation by Maori presenter, Carmen Hetaraka on December 5, 2013, Thursday from 4-6 pm at the Cades and Shutte Law Offices, 1000 Bishop St.,12th floor conference room. Free parking, drinks and snacks will be provided.
Carmen will share a one hour powerpoint presentation with Q & A to follow.
This event is being sponsored by Roger Epstein, The Forgiveness Project, along with The Waimanalo Ahupuaa Hui, headed by Kawehi Kanui, Chair/Project Director who was raised and works in Waimanalo. She is a paralegal, community organizer and mother/grandmother of five with 35 years in her community working towards putting together a community plan made by the community, for the needs of the community and seeks your support for a puuhonua in Waimanalo and on all the islands.
