Featuring Ken Arkind (National Champion) and Carrie Rudzinski (7th Ranked Poet in the World). Winner of the night receives $100. PRESS RELEASE:

The 11th official HawaiiSlam season rolls on with its monthly qualifiers at First Thursdays (November 7th, 2013). The top two poets will qualify for the HawaiiSlam Finals in April 2014 that will determine the team to represent Hawai`i at the 2014 National Poetry Slam in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

The special features for this show are Ken Arkind and Carrie Rudzinski. Arkind is a National Poetry Slam Champion, Nuyorican Poets Caf Grand Slam Champion, and featured Tedx Speaker who has performed his work in 49 States, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and the UK. He has been featured on HBO, CBS, NBC and Borders.com's Open Door Poetry series alongside former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins. Rudzinski is currently the 7th ranked poet in the world, and was named "Best Female Poet" at her first national poetry competition in 2008. She has performed her work across the United States, New Zealand, Australia, and India. As always, the night will be hosted by Kealoha, and will feature live painters and a guest DJ who will provide turntable sorcery throughout the evening.
