PRESS RELEASE:

After an extremely successful 10th Anniversay/Finals show, HawaiiSlam's First Thursdays is proud to present it's eleventh year of poetry slams. Our show on May 2nd will kick off our "No Rules" summer, where all team pieces, musical accompaniment, props, etc. are ALLOWED. However, the 3 minute time limit will still remain in effect.

The special feature for this show is Taimane Gardner, an `ukulele virtuoso who has been performing since she was a toddler. At the age of 13, she met the legendary Don Ho and was invited to become a part of his show and his `Ohana. Since then she has toured around the world and has played for stars and corporations such as John Travolta, Steven Seagal, George Clooney, Pepsi, IBM, and more. She has also opened for Chicago, Jimmy Buffett, and Chris Isaak. As always, the night will be hosted by Kealoha, and will feature live painters and a guest DJ who will provide turntable sorcery throughout the evening.
