PRESS RELEASE:

The 10th official HawaiiSlam season rolls on with its monthly qualifiers at First Thursdays (November 1st, 2012). The top two poets will qualify for the HawaiiSlam Finals in April 2013 that will determine the team to represent Hawai`i at the 2013 National Poetry Slam in Boston, Massachusetts.

The special features for this show are Robbie Q. Telfer (National Indi Finalist) and Brian "b ap" Capobianchi (National Touring Songwriter). Telfer is the poetry correspondent for TimeOut Chicago, and in 2007 was an individual finalist at the National Poetry Slam. He is also the co-founder and curator for The Encyclopedia Show, a live literary variety show being staged independently in over 10 cities around the world. Capobianchi is a Musician, Lyricist, Songwriter and Recording Artist, a dedicated Live Performer. He has shared the stage with Thievery Corporation, The Roots, George Clinton, Slick Rick, Boyz II Men, Nas, and Zap Mama. As always, the night will be hosted by Kealoha, and will also feature live painters and DJ Mr. Nick who will provide turntable sorcery throughout the evening.

-- An official qualifier for the 2012-2013 HawaiiSlam season. Normal slam rules apply, and the top two poets will advance to the 2013 Grand Slam Finals (on April 4th, 2013) that will determine HawaiiSlam's 10th National Poetry Slam team.
-- Turntable Sorcery by DJ Mr. Nick (KTUH)
-- Live painting by the resident artists (past artists include Solomon Enos, Erin McCullough, Kimi Werner, The Storekeeper, Dhyana Zagri, Stanstill, Nabahe, Wes Ka`uhane, Neal Uno, Pancho Abalos, Mike Fresh, Manny P, Patti Bruce, Aaron Char, Mark Agnir, Jeff Lum, Samantha Goldman, Earl Washington, Clinton "Clean" Haness, Carol Tagawa, TJ Howe, Nikila Badua, Jeremiah Skurtu, Sarah Hodges, Hanam Mun, and Risa Grace Oram)
