CALL TO ARTISTS

53rd Annual Windward Artists Guild Members Exhibition
October 6 through October 27, 2012

Honolulu, September 17, 2012: Artists are invited to submit works for participation in the 53rd Annual Windward Artists Guild Members Exhibition, October 6 through 27th, 2012 at Ho`omaluhia Botanical Gardens, Kane`ohe, Hawai`i. Entry and delivery of work will be accepted at Ho`omaluhia on Saturday, Oct. 6th from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Curator will select work from 11:30 am, and works not selected may be picked up from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. on the same day.

Each entrant may enter up to five pieces. All entries should be original works that have not been accepted in any other WAG show. Entry fee for the first two pieces is $25. Each additional piece is $5. You are limited to a maximum of five pieces. Diptychs or triptychs are considered one piece of art. Works must be ready for display. Acceptance is at the discretion of the curator. Non-members WAG members are encouraged to participate and membership forms will be available for those who wish to join on Oct. 6th, at time of submission. Membership in WAG is $30 a year. Student membership (with valid student ID) is $15.

About Windward Artists Guild
The Windward Artists Guild is a non-profit, volunteer, member guild, organized in 1960 by a group of Windward artists. Through education, collaboration, encouragement, and exhibitions, the Windward Artists Guild supports and promotes the production and appreciation of the visual arts. The Windward Artists Guild publishes a newsletter nine times a year.


Founded by Gini McCall, Rosalie Prussing, Lucille Cooper, and Betty Decker with the assistance of Juliette May Fraser and David Ash. There were 12 charter members. Began with an exhibit at the Windward Theatre, auctioning art for the benefit of the Castle Memorial Hospital.

    WAG (Windward Artists Guild) is a non-profit artists guild offering group juried exhibits, workshops, educational grants, and social opportunities with other art lovers. Founded by a group of windward Oahu artists (Gini McCall, Rosalie Prussing, Lucille Cooper, and Betty Decker with the assistance of Juliette May Fraser and David Ash) in 1960, its first event was an art auction to benefit Castle Hospital. The charitable roots of the foundation continue to today with grants to local art teachers and art events that increase interest in the arts.
