PRESS RELEASE

bambuTwo is featuring artist Joe Dowson's. Dowson's work is on exhibit at BambuTwo as part of Maoli Arts Month (MAMo).

About the Artist
Painter Joseph Dowson, Sr. is a land and seascape artist and teacher. Dowson has received numerous awards and has been featured in many exhibits and galleries throughout his career. He teaches at the Elk Lodge and from his own art studio in Honolulu, and at the young age of 85, Dowson paints every day.

Born in Paia, Maui and now residing in Honolulu, Dowson paints with acrylic and watercolor and has a unique style, often creating techniques all his own. Ranging from highly detailed realism to total abstracts, his tools vary from painting knives, brushes and his own fingers. Dowson's paintings capture the essence of the islands in seascapes, landscapes, waterfalls and volcanoes, and bring out his memories of growing up amongst the untouched beauty of old Hawaii.
