Local theatre launches college outreach program featuring classroom visits by play directors.

TAG - The Actors' Group has launched a new program called TAG College Outreach which features guest-lecturer classroom visits by directors of TAG productions. Upcoming plays for the fall '09 program include Night of January 16th by Ayn Rand, a courtroom drama, and November by David Mamet, a political comedy.

"TAG produces thought-provoking live theatre," says Richard Tillotson, a playwright and TAG board member. "College and university audiences are a natural for us, and the plays TAG produces can be ideal subjects for class discussions, presentations and papers."

Student discount admission to TAG plays is only $12 which puts live theatre in the ballpark of a movie ticket. On Thursday evenings, all tickets to TAG shows are only $10.

The downtown theatre hopes to draw audiences from a broad range of university departments including American Studies, History, Political Science, the Academy of Creative Media, and the School of Law as well as from the departments of English and Theatre & Dance.

The TAG theatre is located at 1116 Smith Street. For detailed information on directions and parking along with the season schedule and online reservations, visit the tag website at www.taghawaii.net To arrange a TAG College Outreach classroom visit, contact TAG Production Manager, Laurie Tanoura, at 741-4699.
