Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce Presents Business Seminar for Artists
HJCC is Inviting the General Public to Attend Seminar

Honolulu, HI -- The Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce (HJCC) will present a first-time "Artists and Money" business seminar which will focus on business basics for artists: pricing of artwork, insurance and taxes, public relations, marketing one's works, and learning what jurors and curators look for when selecting art work.

Guest speakers for the seminar will include local artist and nationally recognized wood-turner Ron Kent, public speaking coach Pam Chambers, and Lisa Yoshihara, Director of the University of Hawaii Art Gallery.

The seminar will be held on:

Sunday, September 16, 2007
University of Hawaii, Art Auditorium, Room 101
Registration: 8:45 a.m.
Seminar: 9:00 a.m. -- 12:00 p.m.
Cost: $15.00 Students: $10.00
Parking: Free at lower campus parking structure

The Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce annually sponsors the "Commitment to
Excellence" Art Exhibition. The show features the work of invited and juried local artists. HJCC strongly supports the art industry, and regards art as a viable business sector in Hawaii.

The HJCC was established in 1900 and is one of Honolulu's major business organizations. Its purpose is to provide its members with the leadership and organization to promote Hawaii's business and economic development, in Hawaii and Japan. The Chamber also provides its members awareness and involvement in government affairs affecting business and the community general. The Chamber's membership represents a cross-section of the city's businesses, industries, and professions.
