PRESS RELEASE: The 3rd official HawaiiSlam season rolls on with its monthly qualifiers at First Thursdays (February 1st, 2007). The top two poets will qualify for the HawaiiSlam Finals in April 2007 that will determine the team to represent Hawaii at the 2007 National Poetry Slam in Austin, TX.

Our guest feature for this evening is Oveous Maximus (New York's Nuyorican and louderARTS Slam Teams). Ove has been featured on NBC, UPN, Showtime at the Apollo, and the film "Spit." As always, the night will be hosted by Kealoha, and will feature live painters, massages in the lounge, and a guest DJ (Lady J from RGU) providing turntable sorcery throughout the evening.

Hawaiian Hut is located on the Ala Moana Hotel grounds, near the diamond head side of the Ala Moana shopping center. Doors open at 7:45pm, and the show starts at 8:30pm. Admission is $3 before 8:30pm and $5 after.
