ABOUT AIRSOFT
Airsoft is a recreational activity similar to paintball where replica guns which shoot plastic bbs are used for various games on indoor and/or outdoor fields.

Taken from the About Airsoft -- Airsoft Information Center website (http://www.aboutairsoft.com/aboutus.php) as of July 31, 2010:

Airsoft is a sport in which the players simulate combat, warfare, or other military scenarios using authentic military tactics and replica weapons. Airsoft guns use 6mm BBs made of ABS plastic as ammunition, which generally weigh from .12g to .43g on average. Airsoft guns themselves are almost always exact replicas of real military weapons. Airsoft as a sport is extremely popular in east Asia, mainly Korea, China and Japan, where real firearms are near impossible to obtain for personal use due to strict laws, and as a result, most Airsoft guns are manufactured in these countries.

Airsoft as we know it today has its history in both Japan and America, going back about 30 or 40 years. In Japan, ownership of firearms was banned in the 1960's, and the response was the production of extremely realistic and collectable replicas of real military firearms. In America, air guns were expanded with handguns that fired pellets stored in shells, very similar to spring Airsoft guns today. Before the end of the 1970's, these were introduced into the Japanese market as "soft-air" guns. Naturally the Japanese took the system and began to incorporate it into their own extremely realistic false gun models and created the perfect, non-lethal realistic alternative to actual firearms. These then became popular in the Asian markets as "soft-air" or "air-soft" guns. Gas-powered Airsoft guns evolved into cheaper-made AEGs (Automatic Electric Guns) in the mid 1990's.

Airsoft is quickly and rapidly gaining in popularity however, despite its rather stifled history. Before a large amount of information was able to be spread across large distances, Airsoft was mainly played in Asia, and as a result, people in Canada, Europe and America only heard about Airsoft through those people that frequented Asian countries. Many of them would bring back video footage of Airsoft games or media about Airsoft, and of course, souvenirs, which lead to the small and somewhat contained forming and spreading of small Airsoft groups throughout Europe, Canada and eventually the United States. With the rising of the internet, information became easily shareable over a vast area. APEC (Asia Pacific Enterprise Corporation) was the first Airsoft company to take advantage of the internet as far as selling its products online. Several companies followed this trend and continued to share and disperse knowledge about Airsoft to the masses.

Today, Airsoft as a recreational activity is continuing to grow at an alarming rate. Airsoft itself is a safe and fun way to enjoy the recreational aspects of firearms without the dangers of real guns. Airsoft stores are opening all over the country, and more websites are becoming available for sharing information and purchasing Airsoft equipment and accessories. The increasing number of Airsoft participants is allowing for more sponsored events, more organized teams and games, and of course, more entertainment for the players. Currently Airsoft is enjoyed by thousands of people all over the world, and will likely enjoy a prosperous future.

Field Layout
Kapolei Airsoft has worked to secure a location at 1832 Cowpens Street, Barber's Point, Kapolei. The field is located on a property which currently houses a cluster of buildings to be used for the ultimate indoor+outdoor game experience. The buildings are safe and free of clutter and offer cover for teams traveling across the field and provide a sense of realistic urban terrain.

The boundaries of the Kapolei Airsoft's location is outlined in orange.

The largest building located in the center of the field will be used for a staging area. Additional rooms are planned for parties, gaming and a lounge for group members who choose not to play.

The south and west sides of the property will be decorated with barricade and other obstacles and can serve as the starting point for games which eventually end at the cluster of buildings on the north side of the property.

The field is also large enough to run two games at a time by creating a clear separation in the middle of the west side of the property.

Special field layouts/set-ups requests are possible for private parties.

Field Rules
Kapolei Airsoft makes safety a priority for all players and anyone who visits the property.  Detailed rules are in place and strictly enforced.

Anyone caught purposely using a gun shooting over 400FPS will be asked to leave the premises.  ANY gun can be chronographed at ANYtime.  If you refuse to chronograph your gun you will be asked to leave.  Purposely shooting other players with a gun over 400fps will be considered attempted assault and the proper authorities may be called.

AGE REQUIREMENT
No one under the age of 12 is allowed on the field during airsoft games.  Children between ages 12 and 14 must be accompanied on the field by an adult.  Children between the ages of 15 and 17 can play on the field without a parent/adult supervisor with a signed waiver.  However, children of all ages are allowed on the field for any non-airsoft (Water gun, Nerf(r) gun, etc) game.  A signed waiver by every minor child’s legal parent/guardian is required for children between 12 and 17 playing airsoft.  A pre-signed waiver is only allowed if notarized.
Adults 18 years and older can play without restriction but must also sign a waiver.  Waiver’s for adults are good for one year.

CHEATING
Airsoft is a game that is dependent upon the honorable action of its players.  Cheating will not be tolerated.  You will be given two verbal warnings by field referee staff if another player identifies you as a cheater.  The third time a player is identified, he or she will be removed from the game and will not be allowed back onto the field for one hour which is known as a Temporary Ban.  If the same player is identified as cheating again in the same day, he or she will be asked to sit out for the remainder of the day which is known as a Day Ban.  If a player is charged with three Day Bans, he or she may be banned from the field for a period of up to one year.
If a field referee identifies a player as a cheater, only one verbal warning is given before being charged with a Temporary Ban.

FIELD ATTIRE
You are required to wear covered shoes on the field at all times.  Long pants, long sleeve shirts and gloves are recommended, but not required.

CALL OUTS
When struck by a BB you must lower your weapon, raise your free hand and announce you are hit by yelling, “Hit!”  Players shooting at you must cease immediately.  To exit the field, you must make way to the perimeter of the field quickly and follow the fence to the nearest exit while your hand remains raised.

FIELD RULES
• Only airsoft guns are allowed on the property.
• FPS limit = 400 with .20 bb
• No bayonets, rubber/real knives are allowed on the property.
• Do not walk onto the field while a game is in progress.
• Do not blind fire.  Example: If you are on one side of a structure and you think someone may be on the other side, do not stick your gun around the wall/corner and fire without looking as you shoot.
• No talking or providing cover for other teammates once out and exiting the field.
• Eye and face protection must not be removed at any time while on the field.  If you must remove your eye or face gear, you must exit the field before doing so.

FIGHTING
There will be no fighting or aggressive physical contact, intimidation and any acts of violence on the field or anywhere on the property.  This type of behavior may result in a call to the police and may result in being banned for life from any Kapolei Airsoft event.
