Downtown Art Center Presents “Dance on the Edge of the Witches’ Cauldron,” Curated by Tom Klobe, May 1-29, 2026

Honolulu (April 2026)—
Downtown Art Center (DAC), at 1041 Nuʻuanu Ave., is excited to host “Dance on the Edge of the itches’ Cauldron,” curated by Tom Klobe, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Art Department professor emeritus, founding director of the University of Hawaiʻi Art Gallery, and Artists of Hawaiʻi Biennial 2024 juror. The exhibition will be on view from May 1-29, in DAC’s second-floor Main Gallery. Admission is free and open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

An Opening Reception will be held on First Friday, May 1, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“Dance on the Edge of the Witches' Cauldron" is an important exhibition that features five renowned Hawaiʻi artists who have, throughout their lives, pushed beyond all borders. In other words, they have danced on the edge of the witches' cauldron, balancing between the fire on one side and the boiling stew on the other. Featured artists are:
Fred Roster, Pat Hickman, Allyn Bromley, Sally French, and Linda Kane.

These pioneer artists have always approached art with an inventive use of materials, a sense of dedication, and extreme curiosity. Works by each artist have been selected that showcase the adventurous experimentation each has pursued throughout their artistic careers.

Mahalo to sponsor
Sharon Twigg-Smith for her generous support of this exhibition.
