The University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program is excited to share with you our very first sci-art gallery titled
ResilienSEA: a Celebration of Science, Education and Art at The ARTS at Marks Garage in Chinatown 1159 Nuuanu Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96817.

The exhibit is free for all ages from
November 4-25, 2022ResilienSEA showcases artwork by local artists Sheanae TamMichelle Schwengel-Regala, and Boz Schurr inspired by Hawaiʻi Sea Grant’s ongoing research and education activities. In this sci-art collaborative exhibit, we share three stories of resilience: interweaving knowledge systems for food security; revitalizing our relationship with limu; and witnessing marine ecosystems heal and thrive once again.

Throughout the month of the exhibit, we have fun, engaging, and free programming in store for our guests.  Please see our events listed below.

We invite you to join us for the Opening Night on First Friday Nov 4 from 6 to 8pm where you will have the chance to meet with the artists, enjoy live music by Liam Moleta, and explore the space!
On Mondays of the exhibit (Nov 7, 14, & 21), we will be hosting Science by the Sea Seminar Series at The ARTS of Marks Garage where our graduate fellows will share their research and stories! Doors open at 6pm and talks begin at 6:30pm.

On Closing Night Nov 25 from 6-8pm – join us for our special Voice of the Sea Episode Debut of “Limu Love” and talk story with Malia Heimuli (Kuaʻāina Ulu ʻAuamo Limu Hui coordinator), Bri Ornelas (graduate student in the UH Mānoa Botany Department), and Dr. Kanesa Duncan Seraphin (Hawaiʻi Sea Grant assistant director for marine science education).
