The ARTS at Marks Garage
FIRST FRIDAY MARCH 2019 FIRST FRIDAY

March Exhibit

SymbioSEAS
Various Local Artists
SymbioSEASConnecting Science, Education, Art, and Society through Coral Reefs
March 1- 30
SymbioSEAS represents a group of 40+ scientists and artists who have worked together over the past year to bring global awareness to the health & rehabilitation of our oceans and coral reef through cultivation of a gallery that showcases coral ecosystems research through various 2-D and 3-D mediums. SymbioSEAS is being held in honor of Dr. Ruth Gates and is partially funded by the Rafe Sagarin Fund for Innovative Ecology.

First Friday

Join us for the SymbioSEAS First Friday gallery opening - free and open to the public! First Friday festivities will include live performances throughout the evening and a docent tour of the gallery (see schedule below). Light pupus will be provided by Local Iʻa on a first come, first served basis. Drinks available for purchase.

ABOUT THE GALLERY: SymbioSEAS is a locally-based art exhibit that aims to bring global awareness to the health & rehabilitation of our oceans and coral reef. This art gallery and its accompanying public programs seek to bridge the gap between science and art, highlighting the similarities in the process and extending the research into a visually digestible product for broader audiences. The gallery is intended to connect people on aesthetic and informative levels about the oceans and specifically Hawaiian Coral Reef communities through a blend of science and art in this exhibit.
