MORI by Art + Flea was voted 2017's Best Honolulu Gift Shop in Honolulu Magazine and has been supporting the growing community of local creatives since opening their doors in November 2014 at Ward Warehouse. MORI is now currently located in South Shore Market in Ward Village and serves as a platform for Hawaii's designers and artists to showcase their work and what they love to do. The artists and brands from MORI to be showcased at the upcoming second store location include Ravunan, Andrew Mau, Asham Studio, Deanna Gabiga, Honolulu Printmakers and more.

MORI has secured their role as a well-established shop by being involved with the community through events such as the recent NEKO CAFE partnered with Morning Glass and Hawaiian Humane Society and on a bigger scale in the local art scene, from their pop-up shop at Honolulu Biennial 2017. The hope for the HISAM x MORI Gallery Shop is to attract collectors of all generations and elevate their knowledge of Hawaii's finest artists.

The HISAM x MORI by Art + Flea Gallery Shop Soft Opening event will take place at Hawaii State Art Museum on Friday, July 7th from 6-9PM, which will feature the work of three local prestigious artists, Sally French, Sanit Khewhok, and Lawrence Seward. The museum will be open during this time, and visitors are welcomed to enjoy the live jazz music that will play upstairs as well as the Yvonne Cheng exhibit still on display in the Artisan Gallery. There will be a wine bar courtesy of the museum and local vendor Watanabe Bakery providing delicious food. Valet parking for this event will be located on Richards Street.

French is interested in the psyche of change, anxiety's edge between pause and flow, the netherworld, where imbalance compels the old to fold in to the new. Her work reflects this interest and her exploration of it. She has had her work on display at various museums and galleries in Honolulu and Maui since 2008 including Gallery 103 at Pier 36 in New York City in 2015.

Khewhok was the eleventh recipient of the Catharine E. B. Cox Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts in 2010. He is best known for his miniature portraits on practical objects such as wooden spoons or envelopes. Khewhok's small-scale work allows viewers to engage with his art on a more intimate and personal level. He has been practicing his craft for over thirty years and has made a big impact and contribution to museums in Thailand and Honolulu. Khewhok is academically trained and received his undergraduate degree in Fine Arts at Silpakorn University in Bangkok and later was awarded a Masters in Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. His work tends to reference art-historical traditions, especially those from the Italian Renaissance.

Seward is currently living and working in Honolulu but is very interested in drawing attention to the contemporary art scene in Hawaii. He has been making and showcasing his art professionally since 1990 and was represented by and exhibited at the Andrew Kreps Gallery in New York City for thirteen years. His international exhibitions include MOMA/PS1, the Aldrich Museum, Gallery Edward Mitterand, Richard Heller Gallery. Seward is in the collections of Dikeou, Emily Fischer Landau, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Dakis Joannou, and the Honolulu Museum of Art. His work has been reviewed by the New York Times, The New Yorker, Dwell Magazine, Frieze magazine, and the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
