The ARTS at Marks Garage is pleased to announce the opening of it's next show, STRATA: LAYERS OF EARTH AND TIME, opening Tuesday, March 1,2016 and running until Saturday, March 26, 2016.

STRATA: LAYERS OF EARTH AND TIME is a show featuring unexpected forms of mosaic art by Allana Coffee and Tanja Browne and parallels of abstract mixed media work by Kim Kinard.

Allana Coffee presents a body of work that ranges from mischievous sculptural pieces to soul-mapping portraits using unconventional mosaic processes. Coffee's highly stylized pieces are juxtaposed by Tanja Browne's spatially mesmerizing mosaic art. Tanja relies on the process of andamento (flow of the tiles) to develop meditative medallions. Kim Kinard uses a "slow art" technique, which alternates mixed-media collage with long periods of hibernation, in which each piece is literally buried in the earth or rested in the forest. Taken as a whole the three artists' body of work culminates at a place that is strange and beautiful, filled with layers of earth and time.

First Friday, March 4th will be the opening reception featuring a collaborative mosaic, chill music and mojitos. 5:00-10:00PM

Friday, March 25th, will feature a fashion show featuring local designer presented by KAPA, a new Hawaii Fashion Trade Journal spearheaded by local fashion maven, Alitoya Huxel. Doors will open at 7:00PM and show starts at 7:30PM.
