First Friday at the Hawai‘i State Art Museum

Our December 5, 2014 First Friday Performer is no stranger to the holiday season. The Hawai‘i State Art Museum is pleased to welcome harpist Ruth Freedman from 6 - 9. Ruth has been performing with her beautiful antique harp which was featured on the TV show Antiques Road Show for more than 20 years! She has played "Mrs. Santa" on Christmas night at Honolulu Hale for the past 15 years, has provided "Harp Therapy" at Straub Hospital for the past seven years and has played with the UH Symphony for five years. She has also performed with other various groups and as a solo harpist.

As an added bonus, Ms. Hosen Nakamura, noted calligrapher from Japan, will be here for a calligraphy demonstration. Nakamura has performed internationally for the Princess of Thailand, and has participated in exhibitions in Paris, Turkey, and Berlin. Join us for First Friday for an exciting cultural experience.
