ANDREW ROSE GALLERY is proud to announce CONTEMPORARY HAWAIIAN LANDSCAPE PAINTING, an exhibition by gallery artists Linda Kāne, Noreen Naughton, and Andrew Rose with invited artists Nick Black, Dennis Escat, Arthur Johnsen, Mark Kadota, Russell Lowrey, Sharon Sussman, Roger Whitlock, and Debbie Young. Featuring original images building on the tradition started by the Volcano School then exemplified by Kilohana artists Hitchcock, Bartlett and Walden and Modernists including OʻKeeffe, Norris and Pohl, this group forms the next wave of leading landscape painters from the Islands. From innovations in color and content to virtuosity with materials and skills, these never-before-seen large, medium and small pieces all made within the last year engage the challenges of this familiar genre and present a vision of the future of Hawaiian landscape painting.

Opening Monday, April 15, CONTEMPORARY HAWAIIAN LANDSCAPE PAINTING runs through Friday, June 28th, 2013, and is the second of four shows the gallery will present in its new, quarterly, extended-exhibition schedule during 2013.

The gallery will host a reception for the artists on Thursday, April 18, from 5 - 8pm. The gallery will be open both First Fridays, May 3, and June 7, 2013 from 5 -- 9 pm. And a special Artist"s Talk with selected aritsts will be held during First Friday, May 3, from 7 -- 8pm.

ANDREW ROSE GALLERY is located in Pauahi Tower on Bishop Street at the crossroads of Downtown Honolulu"s Arts District between The Contemporary Museum at First Hawaiian Center & the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum. Unique in Hawaiʻi for presenting museum-quality Contemporary artists to international collectors, the gallery manages the careers of Noreen Naughton, Linda Kāne, Charles Cohan, Marcia Morse, and Andrew Rose. The gallery also presents work by Wayne Levin, Mamoru Sato, Abigail Romanchak, Gaye Chan, Yida Wang, Dalani Tanahy, Carol Bennett, Wayne Zebzda, Bradley Capello, and Vince Hazen.

CALENDAR UPDATE: The gallery has modified its schedule so that it will show four 10-week exhibitions during 2013 instead of six 6-week ones to allow the community extended time to experience the installations.
