More about DJ Mr. Nick:
His popular show, The JET SET, takes you around the musical world on Wednesdays from 6-9pm on KTUH, and his other show, Bridging the Gap, airs on Saturday nights on HPR2 from 6-8pm. As a nightlife DJ outside of the radio station, Mr. nick has proven that he can cater to any audience while still keeping true to his style — he can introduce esoteric beats to the most discerning of audiences and keep them moving as if they are hearing their favorite song for the first time. From bossa nova to breaks, from to soul to electro, from jazz to house, Mr. nick can keep nights to a solid theme or mix genres as naturally as peanut butter and jelly. He’s played with internationally famous acts Diplo, Dimitri from Paris, Ursula 1000, Fort Knox Five and many more. He’s played gigs in Asia and has toured the islands as a top DJ pick for Honolulu’s premiere cabaret revue Cherry Blossom Cabaret. A signature way to describe his sets sums up a DJ Mr. Nick experience: he is sure to play something you have never heard before, but will never forget. www.djmrnick.com

So drink in the art with your eyes, drink in the music with your ears and drink in the libations through your mouth and experience First Friday like never before and stay a while.

October 5, 2012 FIRST FRIDAY VENDORS

Company Name: FreeArtMovement

How long have you been doing this:
I've been making and selling my art/craft for 15 years

What made you start a business:
I used to crochet beanies in high school and all of the surfer guys wanted hats, so I started to sell my hats during school. I would take orders in the morning, crochet in class, sell at lunch recess, and come home with over $50 cash at the end of the day. After awhile of doing this, I decided to start a business.

What inspires your designs:
I really like color and patterning. In my artwork I utilize patterns to represent personality traits (and how actions repeat themselves over time) In my craftwork, I focus most on juxtaposing colors to create harmony.

If you had advice for any new up-and-coming artists out there, what would it be:
If you really want to do it, you will.
If you really want to make it, you can.
But, you can only make it, if you do it.
And, you can only do it, if you make it.
