It is the philosophy at YSH that this objective is best achieved by helping a young person find his or her own voice. In 2008 Youth SPeaks Hawaii sent a team of teen poets to compete at Brave New Voices in Washington DC. This team won the competition and is featured in the HBO series Brave New Voices. This year a new team did it again, this time in Chicago. Every Wednesday Free teen poetry workshops happen at 4.30 @ Marks Garage.
