Live from the Lawn -- May Day Cruzin’
First Friday, May 1st, 2009, 6-9 p.m., Hawai'i State Art Museum, Free

Join us for May Day Cruzin', a special Live from the Lawn event at the Hawai'i State Art Museum on First Friday on May 1st from 6 to 9 p.m. It's all in the family as this event showcases the long-awaited reunion concert of the musical Cruz family. The lineup includes legendary father Ernie Cruz Sr., the group One Right Turn (sisters Tiffa and Connie Cruz with Tiffa's husband Imua Garza), and sons Guy Cruz and Ernie Cruz Jr. The public is invited to this free event.

One Right Turn, featuring sisters Tiffa and Connie Cruz with Tiffa’s husband
Imua Garza, will perform at Live from the Lawn on First Friday, May 2nd
Guy Cruz will sing a selection of songs ranging from soulful to sweet on the
second floor Lanai Lounge of the Hawai‘i State Art Museum..

Opening the program on the front lawn stage is the patriarch of the family, father Ernie Cruz Sr. He is known throughout the Hawaiian Islands as the yodeling-singingpicking Hawaiian musical cowboy. Ernie will perform with his band from the Big Island, and he will be joined for duets by his daughter Connie.

Up next on the lawn stage is One Right Turn, the ultimate musical family affair featuring two young sisters, Tiffa and Connie, hailing from this amazing Hawaiian musical family, plus Tiffa's husband, Imua Garza, the former lead singer and founding member of the famous group, the Opihi Pickers. Tiffany, Connie, and Imua have even sat in with John Cruz and Jack Johnson at the 2007 Kokua Festival in Honolulu, Hawai'i. They just returned from a road trip throughout the West Coast, and they played at the SXSW 2009 Music Festival in Austin, Texas.

Upstairs on the second floor Lanai Lounge, the two Cruz brothers will perform. Up first will be Guy Cruz, who will sing a selection of songs ranging from soulful to sweet. His original songs reflect a universal love that anyone can relate to. Whether it's reggae, country, blues, or contemporary; Guy stirs feelings in those that listen. Next it's his brother, Ernie Cruz Jr., who is best known as one half of the wildly popular Ka'au Crater Boys from the 1

0s. So cruise on down to HiSAM for this free concert.

Delicious food will be on sale on the lawn from Le Crepe Café, Soul de Cuba Café, and Hank's Haute Dogs. Downtown @ the HiSAM, the museum restaurant on the first floor, will be open for dinner and will be serving Spanish tapas. You can also visit our museum gift shop, Shop@HiSAM, which features a large selection of locally-made handcrafted gifts.

This free event is presented by the Hawai'i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and the Friends of the Hawai'i State Art Museum and is produced by Tim Bostock Productions.

The Hawai'i State Art Museum is in the No. 1 Capitol District Building at 250 South Hotel Street, on the corner of Hotel and Richards Streets, in downtown Honolulu across from the Capitol. The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. For more information on the museum, call 586-0900 or visit www.hawaii.gov/sfca.
