Live from the Lawn - Winter Blues
First Friday, January 2, 2009, 6-9 p.m.
Hawai‘i State Art Museum; Free

oin us for Winter Blues, a special Live from the Lawn event at the Hawai‘i State Art Museum on First Friday on January 2nd from 6 to 9 p.m. This event will feature Friends of Adam, Jeff Said No!, James Ronstadt and the Dynamic Shuffle Kings, Guy Cruz, Pierre Grill, and Ginai.

The lawn program begins with Friends of Adam. This young and soulful group features Clay Campania on vocals, Ernie Ecraela on bass, and Justin Inocelda on drums. The trio of high school friends brings a new and fresh sound to the blues and are holding their own in Honolulu’s intimate blues scene.

Jeff Said No! is back on the scene after spending some time away from the islands. This eclectic group of musicians bring their own unique style of the blues. They remind us that blue is a color, but the blues is a feeling.

Don’t miss the grand finale for the lawn show featuring James Ronstadt and the Dynamic Shuffle Kings. Hawai‘i-born blues veteran James Ronstadt sings the blues with the voice of experience and keeps it real on the blues harmonica. He is supported by Rick Baldwin on guitar, Gil Farias on bass, and James Ganeko on drums.

Be sure to go upstairs to the second floor Lanai Lounge to hear more great music. Guy Cruz comes from a talented and respected musical family. He lets his soul shine through his original songs. Pierre Grill and Ginai will perform jazz- Hawaiian fusion tunes featuring Ginai’s scat-laced vocals and conga playing coupled with Pierre’s multi-tasking on the piano, bass pedals, and trumpet. They are bound to turn up the heat on this winter blues night!

This free event is presented by the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and the Friends of the Hawai‘i State Art Museum. The program is produced by Tim Bostock Productions.
