For only four hours each month, well-known and emerging artists are showcased in the historic, red brick promenade and in the festive courtyard. The September One Night Stand features mixed media from new and returning artists.

Red Mehan, an experienced and innovative photographer from the North Shore, offers this as a introduction into his work:
Beyond:
an experience:
of the celebration of life:
dance in the wind, swim with sharks, feel the fire, celebrate your life:
a multimedia event by the artist Red and friends.

A surprise guest artist or two from The groundUP pirates will return with original paint creations. The GroundUP movement is a family/ collaboration/ crew of artist/ musicians in all forms of ART from paint, graffiti, photography, fashion, poetry, music. As family, they reach out into the community and the world with their benefit shows such as Heart for Africa and for the May 08 China Earthquake.

Shana Squier will be displaying mostly abstract paintings on boards, 24"x48". Her wood paintings are fluid-like, non-representational pieces that are inspired by the ocean, red lava from the Big Island, and the beautiful sandy beaches. Her paintings of the Hawaiian goddess Pele are done with oil on canvas. She will also be showing a series of Japanese Paint-by-Numbers girls, which was inspired by the Iona Dance Company's live art installation shown at a previous First Friday event. After taking several photographs, she then incorporated them into her own paint interpretation. Shana will have her original art pieces and several prints for sale.

Luke and friends will also offer mixed media which will include original paintings and ceramics.Ê

In keeping with our Chinatown venue, Accupuncture & Herbs from China will be offering their exotic teas and lotions for sale.

Kate Wagner will offer her famous Box Dinners and incredible original desserts for sale as usual. You may know her creations from several Open Market events. Starpoint Café.

Fred Gayagas will be back to share his wonderful old and new Hawaiian tunes and interact with the Courtyard visitors.

Enter into the Chinatown Courtyard either on Smith Street through the Blue Dragon Gate or through the glass doors on Maunakea Street. This event is free and open to the public.
