HONOLULU REAL ESTATE AGENCY OPENS OFFICE AS ART GALLERY FOR
INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS

Art lovers, Jazz lovers, and discriminating collectors will be thrilled and in attendance on First Friday, March 7th celebrating at a wonderful new design and exhibition space. 1145 Bethel Street located diagonal to the Hawaii Theatre will be hosting two of Hawaii's living treasures, John Henry Nichols and Masako Nashimoto-Luttrell. Business Owner JoAnn Matsuo has transformed her space into a dynamic art gallery and will hold a gala reception and auction exhibiting stunning images from these artists.

Featured watercolor artist, Masako Nashimoto-Luttrell, better known as “Nashi” is not only a successful international business woman, she has a burgeoning talent in her medium of watercolors. Inspired by nature, her use of vivid colors and renditions of Hawaiian flowers is something discriminating collectors will certainly enjoy. “Nashi” was born in Tokyo and most recently gained the Ho'Okela Governors Award for exemplary service. Pacific Business News has chosen her as a finalist for their “Best Women of the Year” for 2008. Vivid, engaging colors are reflected in her dynamic yet soft style. The event will feature her award winning piece “Shrimp Duet and Campanula”, honored by the Hawaii Art Academy.

The artist, John Henry Nichols, Hawaii's leading visual jazz artist has appeared in over 50 one man art shows and jazz festivals throughout the United States and Canada. His work is displayed at universities throughout Europe and North America. Mr. Nichols will be well represented with his body of work in oils, acrylics, and wood block technique. For more than 30 years, the artist John Henry Nichols has fused his love for jazz and expression.

Most recently Mr. Nichols was pleased to be added to the collection of Mr. Sonny Rollins, “the saxophone colossus” while appearing at the 2007 Vancouver, British Columbia Jazz Festival. “Live at Sonny's Crib” signed by Mr. Rollins will be the center attraction at this evenings' event. In addition, jazz lovers and art patrons will see for the first time Mr. Nichols tribute to the great Count Basie, whom Nichols met as a teenager. This will be the unveiling of the artist's new sculpture and as such will be an exciting event.

Patrons and collectors will be offered the opportunity to acquire their choices as part of the evening's theme and a portion of the proceeds to benefit Hawai`i Arts Alliance. Gallery owner Matsuo says, “It's our way of giving back to the community.”
