FEATURED ARTISTS & ENTERTAINMENT
Henry Ha’o and Paul A. Forney

The first First Friday of 2008 The Cathedral Gallery will be featuring two fantastic local artists Henry Ha’o and Paul A. Forney. Both men demonstrate the beauty and the whimsy of the islands in their own special way.

Also, featured is Michael Harburg of Holualoa, Hawai’i (aka the Ipu Guy) Michael decorates gourds (which he grows) in a method that was used in old Hawai’i on the island of Ni’ihou. This art form was lost to history at the turn of the 20th century as the practitioners died and native vessels were replaced by western crockery. There were examples of this art in museums but how they were decorated was unknown. Each one of a kind ipu is a unique modern day Hawaiian treasure.
