Zachary Opaskar’s art opening leads a night featuring live music from Quadraphonix, dance from As I Am, Theatre from HUTC plus, hula-hoop girl, slam poetry and a special guest Ukulele virtuoso. Ong King Arts Center brings new, vibrant, visual and performing arts to Chinatown’s First Friday.

ART GALLERY OPENING: Zachary Opaskar innovates art through inventing his own crafts and compelling the viewer to action. His creations will be revealed in ‘Text Reveals Title.’ A show of new, figurative and conceptual work which bridges the gap between east and west, with influences from Lucian Freud to Chang Dai Chen.

Since moving to Hawaii, Zachary has developed a technique of finishing his art with the same method used to finish surf boards. He credits Hawaii with rekindling his love of nature, which has made its way into his art, in the form water, trees and land.

Zachary is the first artist to repeat at Ong King. This reflects his prolific and perfectionist nature. This is all new work, with an unique approach to perspective, form and even philosophy.

“Art can take away the fear of approaching a subject like philosophy, science, or the universe, its not limited by a field of research into a subject if you have the interest you have an expressive medium”

Zachary Opaskar
