Join us to celebrate the June FEAST exhibition 'The Finch will Flourish'

Born from the community support generated at the May 10th FEAST, Boz Shurrcultivated the June FEAST exhibition, The Finch Will Flourish to focus on transforming public and private spaces into places that feel safe and inviting. This show is a collaborative effort between the artist, ARTS atMarks Garage, andHawaii FEAST to benefit Child and Family Services, whichprovides safe spaces for transitioning women, children, and families. The exhibitruns June 1st-15th and is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday, 12-5pm.

Join us for the below events to celebrate the work of Boz Schurr, and explore the power of art to create healing spaces in Hawaii.All events are being held at the ARTS at Marks Garage in Chinatown, andinclude ono grindz, libations, music, and more!

First Friday opening pARTy (5:30-9pm) followed by live dance concert with Jaramak & Good Foot (9pm-12am)
[Friday, June 1st - free until 9pm, live concert $10/cover]

Join us for the opening night of The Finch will Flourish! First Friday is free and open to all. At 9pm there will be a special dance concert by Jamarak & Good Foot - be prepared for a glorious mix of afro funk, soul, percussion, and horns!

Community talk story
[Saturday, June 9th,2:30-5pm - $5 suggested donation]

Boz Schurr, the featured June FEAST exhibition artist, will be joining Child & Family Services providers and Justyn "Kaʻolonā" Ah Chong, Director of Photography for the film Mele Murals, to share the valuable and impactful collaborative work being done in community using the gifts of creative artists through public art forms as a powerful tool for resiliency in youth-focused social services. The community talk story will by facilitated by Lala Nuss, Founder of Conscious Concepts & Public Program Events Manager at the ARTS at Marks Garage. Click here for more information.

Film screening & closing pARTy
[Thursday, 6:30-9pm, June 14th - $10]

The closing pARTy will showcase the award winning film, Janey Makes A Play, a multigenerational story which follows a captivating 90-year-old woman named Janey as she rallies her small town to create a theatre production about the Great Depression amidst the real erosion of the town's local economy. Hawaiʻi FEAST is an event platform that supports place-based and public artwork through community financing and social networks. FEAST empowers artists to create a sense of place within their communities through creative expression. FEAST is built solely upon community resources; Local artists produce ideas for public artwork and community members take part in the decision making process of selecting projects and financing these projects.
