Okay, we hope you plan to have more ART in your life this year, and we know just the place you can go to get it. Please see the listings below for activities and opportunities offered by the team at The ARTS at Marks Garage and our Partners.

We're very optimistic that this will be a turn-around year for us. We've never let our ART suffer for financial need, and we plan to shore up our resources to erase debt from our vocabulary (and board meetings). And speaking of that... we welcome your help, whether it be in the form of donations, volunteerism or ideas. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you'd like to get

Wildlife murals to line Pauahi & Nu'uanu St. at the start of 2018 in an effort to enhance Chinatown through public art

Coming the first week of January 2018, the bulb-outs outside The ARTS at Marks Garage, at the corner of Nu'uanu Ave. and Pauahi St., will be filled with murals depicting the wetland birds and plants that once inhabited Honolulu's Chinatown, including alaeulas, koloa, nene, kalo, and more. These murals are part of the Honolulu Wetland Revival Project (HWRP), a series of paintings envisioned to enliven and enrich Pauahi St. through public art. Read More

This program is designed for students who have had some theatre experience and are interested in learning more about performance technique led by award-winning director/actor/artist-educator Eden Lee Murray. Those interested should call 384-2157.


Improv Workshop with Kimee Balmilero


Mondays, 6:30 PM, $25

This workshop will focus on several types of openings for long form sets. Players will have the opportunity to explore different ways to generate information for a fun and idea filled show! Participants should have some long form improv experience.


Freestyle Rap Workshop


Mondays, 7-9 PM, $25

Students of all levels will learn the basics of freestyle rap and how to use it within improvised scenes or in your every day life. Get out of your head and into your flow! No experience required in a safe, non-judgmental environment where support is our number one rule.


Jr. Ensemble Acting Class (6-8 Grade)

    The ARTS at Marks Garage is a community arts center with a 1,000 sq. ft. gallery, a 1,000 sq. ft. theater, and a 1,000 sq. ft. office space founded in 2001. Marks is home to 13 performing and visual arts businesses including Youth Speaks Hawaii and Hawaii Shakespeare Festival. 45,000 visitors attend 13 exhibits and 150 performances each year.
