CHINATOWN PAINT OUT!

CHINATOWN SECOND SATURDAY "DISCOVER ART"

FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Paintout 8am--12am
Discover Art Event 11 am -- 4pm PRESENTED BY Creative Arts Experience

Join us for the second annual Chinatown Paint Out during Second Saturday's "Discover Art" event -- August 11, 2017.

Hundreds of people enjoy Chinatown's Second Saturday, where music, food and ART converge.

Plein air painters from around Oahu will create work in response to Chinatown's vibrant cityscape during a limited window of time in full view of the public

What is plein air painting? It is a phrase borrowed from the French equivalent meaning "open (in full) air". It is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors, also called French: peinture sur le motif ("painting of the object(s) or what the eye actually sees"), where a painter reproduces the actual visual conditions seen at the time of the painting.

Painters check-in at 8 am and finish a completed painting by 12 noon. All artists will meet back in front of Louis Pohl Gallery with completed paintings ready to be judged by local artist and art educator Mark Norseth. Enjoy a potluck lunch with fellow artists, public admirers and friends to bring attention to plein air painting in Honolulu.

Participation fee is $10 per painter, which includes the opportunity to exhibit at Louis Pohl Gallery.
