2016 CALL FOR ARTISTS: KONA JUDICIARY COMPLEX

CALL FOR ARTISTS:
The Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (HSFCA) seeks Hawaiʻi Visual Artists who wish to be considered for the new Kona Judiciary Complex in Kailua-Kona on the island of Hawaiʻi. Through this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) we intend to establish a qualified pool of individual professional artists for consideration. Various sites on the property offer opportunities for freestanding 3-D work on the exterior of the building.

PROJECT GOAL:
The Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts' goal for this project is to commission sculpture of the highest aesthetic standards for the new Kona Judiciary Complex in Kailua-Kona on the island of Hawaiʻi that contributes to the well-being of staff and community. Sculptors using a variety of durable materials are encouraged to apply.

PROJECT SITE:
The Kona Judiciary Complex project intends to provide a modern courthouse facility in and to serve the growing West Hawaiʻi region and its residents. The new facility will consolidate court facilities currently dispersed in multiple buildings throughout Kona, improve court operations, facilitate fair and timely case resolution, increase security, and promote access to the justice system.
