Intersections Visiting Artist ANDREA DEZSÖ

Romanian-born Andrea Dezsö is a visual artist who works across a broad range of media including drawing, painting, artist's books, embroidery, cut paper, animation, sculpture, site-specific installation and public art. Dezsö's permanent public art has been installed in two New York City subway stations, at the United States Embassy in Bucharest, Romania and at CUNY BMCC Fiterman Hall in Lower Manhattan. Dezsö's mosaic titled Community Garden in the New York City subway was recognized as Best American Public Art in 2007 by Americans for the Arts. Dezsö's work is included in the exhibition Selections from the Collection of Arm and Roller Press, on view at The Art Gallery at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa through April 8, 2016.

Associate Professor of Art at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, Dezsö maintains studios in New York City and in western Massachusetts. She exhibits internationally and is represented by the Nancy Margolis Gallery in New York and Pucker Gallery in Boston.

INTERSECTIONS PROGRAM:

Intersections is the visiting artist, designer, and scholar program of the Department of Art + Art History, UHM. Each semester the program invites recognized and internationally known, as well as emerging artists, designers, and scholars to the UHM campus to present lectures and workshops; conduct classroom visits and studio critiques; and participate in exhibitions and community activities.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking fees may apply.
