  • Friends of the Hawaii State Art Museum - Annual Fundraiser and Opening Reception to open Image & Imagination

Friends of the Hawai‘i State Art Museum is proud to announce its Annual Fundraiser and Opening Reception to open Image & Imagination, an exhibition that explores the power of art to inspire curiosity and reflection. Guests will have the opportunity to interact with thought-provoking artworks from the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts' Art in Public Places Collection (APP). Visitors will learn about the artists' inspirations and ideas, and share their impressions and interpretations.

On Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 6 -- 9:30pm is the annual fundraiser with a reception for Image & Imagination. Guests will visit HiSAM's galleries, engage with artists, and enjoy delicious pūpū, drinks, and live entertainment, while learning about the activities and programs of HiSAM.

As always, while entrance to the museum is free every day of the year, special admission to the event is by $50 donation per person. Each donation includes a one-year membership in the Friends of HiSAM with newsletters, reception invitations and more.

Funds raised by the Friends help support HiSAM's mission. The Friends of the Hawai'i State Art Museum (Friends of HiSAM) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization established to work effectively with the Hawai'i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (HSFCA) and its professional staff to enhance and support the work of the museum, its ancillary programs, and amenities. In supporting the mission of the HSFCA, the Friends of HiSAM have four objectives: (1) expose and engage all grade school students at the museum to the arts in Hawai'i, (2) encourage all high school and college students who are focused on the arts through meaningful events and programs at the museum (3) expose, excite, educate and engage those living in and visiting our state to the art and artists of Hawaii through visits to the museum, and (4) assist the HSFCA in the recognition of Hawaii's art and artists.

RSVP by 8/29/14 to RSVPfriendsofhisam@gmail.com or online at http://on.fb.me/1q43T4C.

We welcome and encourage press, television and radio to request special passes to cover the event live.
