FIRST THURSDAYS: $100 NATIONALLY CERTIFIED SLAM POETRY COMPETITION AND OPEN MIC... An evening of performance poetry, music, and live art hosted by Kealoha. Featuring the Last Chance Slam. Winner of the night receives $100. LOCATION: Fresh Cafe, 831 Queen Street (@ intersection with Cooke Street), Thursday 3/7/2013, 8:30pm. Admission is $3 before 8:30pm, and $5 after. PRESS RELEASE:

The 10th official HawaiiSlam season rolls on with its monthly qualifiers at First Thursdays (March 7th, 2013). This slam will be the Last Chance Slam for poets to qualify for the HawaiiSlam Finals on April 4th, 2013 that will determine the 10th team to represent Hawai`i at the 2013 National Poetry Slam in Boston, Massachusetts. As always, the night will be hosted by Kealoha, and will also feature live painters and a guest DJ who will provide turntable sorcery throughout the evening.

Fresh Cafe is located at 831 Queen Street (@ intersection with Cooke Street). Doors open at 7:30pm, and the show starts at 8:30pm. Admission is $3 before 8:30pm and $5 after. For more info, check out the website at www.HawaiiSlam.com, send an email to info@HawaiiSlam.com, or call 387-9664.
