About Chinatown Improvement District
The Chinatown Improvement District is a 501(c)3 non-profit comprised of over 250 land and business owners, residents, businesses and members of the general public both within and outside of Chinatown.

Mission
The Chinatown Improvement District is a 50l(c)3 non-profit organization
formed to (1) improve neighborhood conditions, combat community deterioration and (2) encourage and promote the preservation and enhancement of the ethnic, cultural and historical character and significance of Chinatown. Among our 250 members and supporters are building owners, businesses, residents and interested members of the general public. We are an all-volunteer organization and have no salaried
employees. Donations are tax exempt to the fullest extent of the law.

General Information
Partnering with the Lions Club on their Safe Sidewalks program in the Downtown and Chinatown areas. The City provides all materials and community members work to patch and repair sidewalk cracks, holes and uplifts. This increases safety for thousands of pedestrians in the Downtown and Chinatown areas.

Tackling Graffiti: Researching products and techniques to safely remove graffiti from historic structures Without damaging or over-painting historic brick or stone elements.

Reinvigorating Free Wi-Fi: Last summer (2011), members of the CID coordinated with the City and private businesses to help reinvi gorate free service throughout the Chinatown District.

Historical Walking Tours: In 2012, the CID will once again partner with the Hawaii Heritage Center to present two historical walking tours through parts of Chinatown. Special cultural and historical features and traditions will be highlighted on these educational tours.
